Janet Correia
Collaborative Pianist
Janet Correia is a passionate musician whose life has been deeply interwoven with choral music. Her journey began singing in her church choir as a child, later evolving into accompanying her high school vocal ensemble, then serving as Assistant Conductor under Dr. Lori-Anne Dolloff at the University of Toronto. As a versatile performer, she has sung with Toronto ensembles, including the Amadeus Choir of Greater Toronto and Exultate Chamber Singers, while also serving as section lead at St. Thomas’ Anglican Church in Toronto and Masterworks of Oakville—where she occasionally steps in as a percussionist when needed!

A dedicated educator and artist, Janet holds a Bachelor of Music Education (piano major, with studies in choral conducting and composition) and a Bachelor of Education, both from the University of Toronto. She further honed her expertise at the Glenn Gould Professional School, earning an Artist-Teacher Diploma in Piano Performance and Pedagogy.

Currently the Music Director at St. Luke’s Anglican Church (Palermo), Janet previously spent years as Collaborative Pianist and Conductor with the Oakville Choir for Children & Youth, touring extensively and internationally with the ensemble. Her creative contributions to music education include her original composition ‘Browny Bee’ (published in the newest 2025 RCM Voice Series) and ‘A Canadian Folk Medley’ (Leslie Music Publications), reflecting her love of Canadian folk songs.

Within her musical community, Janet is an active member of the Hamilton/Halton ORMTA branch (serving as President for two years) and has held board positions with the Rotary Burlington Music Festival Legacy Fund and the Canadian Music Competitions (Oakville Chapter). In May 2025, she joined a delegation of Canadian educators and conductors to Latvia and Estonia, immersing herself in Baltic choral traditions—observing rehearsals, attending conducting exams at Riga University, and visiting the Arvo Pärt Centre.

In her spare time, Janet finds great joy in composing, acrylic painting and spending time with her husband, family, cats and gardens.
